As a grassroots movement in the body of Christ, we are all about celebrating and promoting life! So why would we participate in celebrating death? Here's an article written by Jennifer Pettinger, one of our state Task Force members on the topic of October 31st. From Jennifer:
God showed me the evil in halloween when I was walking through a retail store. The
overpowering sense of evil I felt walking through the displays opened my eyes to the destructive force behind this practice. I prayed about what I was seeing in the spiritual and God led me to an article written by John Ramirez, ex satanist. He was warning Christians not to celebrate halloween.
When I read John’s article, I just kept seeing the Scripture John 8:32 "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” And that is what it did. It set me free. He likened celebrating halloween to cheating on Jesus. He said do you think satan lets his people go to church on Good Friday? He shared a quote from Anton Lavey, founder of the "church of satan", where he says in his own words, “I want to thank every Christian parent that (they) allow (their) children to celebrate the devil one night of the year.”
Ramirez warned, “He’s intentionally thanking Christian parents, thank you for dressing up your kids, changing their identity, sacrificing spiritually.” He said “There's spiritual warfare ... and spiritual atmosphere and opportunity that the devil gives you. ... We need to be precise, we need to be persistent, and we need to know how to conquer those opportunities.”
When Ramirez was active in the witchcraft world years ago, he said he “knew Christians were spiritually anemic.” We are spiritually anemic because we are not saturated in God's Word and in a relationship with Him. John Ramirez said “Jesus never took the devil lightly in the Scriptures. Jesus confronted the devil. He didn’t talk about him, He confronted him.” He also requested that we "Be an overcomer and make Jesus Christ proud that He picked you for the battle”.
Another ex-satanist shared that abortion is a satanic ritual – we know that throughout the Old and New Testament that the sacrifice of children was made to satan. He said that when people put up Halloween decorations, that whole perimeter becomes one big satanic ritual for that whole neighborhood (a hot spot for demonic activity). He said as Christians we first need to be in righteous standing with God, making sure we don’t have any hidden sin or any open doors to the devil in our lives. Then we need to be in serious prayer that people who celebrate, while they are doing that, they have a true encounter with Christ. We don’t need to fear; we need to pray the Light of Christ breaks through.
Our calling as a Christian is to pray eyes are open. We don’t pray against people (Ephesians 6), we pray for their salvation. You may pray this prayer:
"Lord, I pray that Jesus is Lord over my home, my street, my city, my nation and that God will reveal Himself to them. Break the influence of satan in the name of Jesus. Amen.
"Finally, do not FEAR," John 14:27 says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)
Leviticus 19:31 ‘Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by
them. I am the Lord your God.”
1 Corinthians 6:15-16: "For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols?"
1 John 4:4 "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the
one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world."
John 8:32 "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Note: Many Christians celebrate Reformation Day on October 31st. Reformation Day celebrates the message of grace through faith and the translation of the Bible into languages people could understand and read for themselves, ultimately paving the way for Western civilization. (Romans 11:6)
