Colorado Life Initiative Booth
Thank you for representing Colorado Life Initiative (CLI) and promoting Pastors For Life! Here is a checklist to prepare for representing these initiatives or volunteering at one of our booths. Theme, supplies, and handouts will be provided by a Task Force member.
Please use words from the initiatives themselves or our Talking Points - never guess at an answer - refer them to a Task Force member or the website (then look up the answer so you know next time).
TALKING POINTS FOR VOLUNTEERS
“We are putting forward initiatives in Colorado to protect ALL children BEGINNING at conception.”
(Available for public viewing on our website and the Secretary of State’s website.)

The Right to Be Born Amendment will end tax funded abortion all nine months of Pregnancy.

The Protect Pregnant Mothers and Preborn Children statute will close abortion clinics and stop abortion pills in the state.

1. Encourage them to sign up on Sign-up sheet to receive updates (don’t have to know if they will volunteer)
When they sign up, ask them to please print clearly. Then ask them to watch their inbox for updates every week. (May end up in their spam.) “And please, tell your friends.”

2. Offer magazine or 2-Part flyer/info card (free), business card if they need to reach directly

3. Show 10-week baby model, especially to youth (put in their hand), let those most interested have an extra baby model as a gift to share with others

4. We are asking all life-affirming pastors and churches to lead the state. Ask them to share the 2-Part Flyer with their Pastor and encourage to contact us at gotaheart.org for an invitation to the Pastors For Life monthly leadership strategy zoom meeting (2nd Tues every month @ 1 PM).

Challenging Questions:
1. What is different about the Colorado Life Initiative (CLI) from “other prolife groups”?
Answer: “We are the only prolife or abolitionist group in Colorado working to change the law.” We are also the only group basing everything we do on Scripture.
(See blog: “What’s Different About Us?” and gotaheart.org/About CLI)

2. Why do we think an amendment could pass this time?
Answer: “We just need more people to support LIFE efforts to grow momentum – that’s how anything gets passed.”

3. Does it criminalize or prosecute women?
Answer: “No women with an abortion in their past will be prosecuted. This is not about targeting women – this is about protecting all children and pregnant mothers moving forward from traumatic harm and violent deaths.” (See “Applicability” and “Enforcement”)

4. Refer them to the website to answer questions - never guess at an answer.

Focus on words like “protect”, “save both”, “compassion”, and “common sense”.

Humanize the baby “he or she”, “daughter or son”, never “it” (we don’t call each other “it”).

Use concrete words (words you can see, feel, hear, touch), like baby, child, mother, … “We’re protecting all children and their mothers”. “This is about protecting children.”

Encourage those gathering signatures to “recruit a buddy”.

For those who gathered signatures last time:
“We received 57,000 signatures so we need everyone who gathered signatures last time to gather at least that many signatures again and recruit at least one other person so we can double our numbers to make the ballot in 2026.”

If they are not able to circulate a petition, perhaps they would consider donating. We are also asking for prayer – our prayer call is every Tuesday at 12 noon.
Attitude Matters!
-
Stay positive and confident - assume everyone will want to protect our youngest and most vulnerable children it's not if they will support, but how. Do not talk about anything negative - no one likes a downer.
-
Answer questions quickly and succinctly.
-
Redirect any negative comments.
-
If someone tries to debate, it’s ok to say, “I don’t know” and move on!
-
Smile! We're saving babies!
