Can a Life Initiative Hurt 'The Cause'?

As illogical as that sounds (and it is illogical), this is probably the most insidious excuse for being silent in the face of evil that I've heard to-date, primarily because it comes from people who we assume must know more than we do who call themselves 'prolife'.

"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." [Galatians 6:7] It should be enough to know when we pray in faith, preach in faith, and work in faith to end the slaughter of these innocent children that we are planting seeds that will reap a good harvest, simply because we "reap what we sow".

It should also be enough to know that when we are obedient to Christ in how we treat "the least of these" among us, in that we "Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; uphold the rights of the afflicted and oppressed" [Psalm 82:3] that "“Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.” [Psalm 58:11]

If those are not enough, the fact is that with every life initiative put forward on the state ballot, more Coloradans have voted for life! Every time. [Deficit to passing decreases - SJR24-003]

It makes sense, because with every ballot initiative, people are talking about the issue. Voters are learning about the humanity of children. People are having conversations that God uses to soften hearts and change minds. Conversations that wouldn't be happening if there wasn't a ballot initiative.

So if "the cause" is to end the intentional killing of children in our state, putting forward an initiative that ends the intentional killing of children in our state makes sense to help "the cause". We can use the initiative to educate, mobilize, energize, and unify for life!

No one can argue with the morality of ending this holocaust. So it must not be the "right time" to stop killing children. Or, people aren't "ready" to repent, or ... the excuses go on.

And that's all they are. Excuses for continuing to talk about the issue without actually changing anything. Excuses to continue killing children for political and financial gain instead of ending the holocaust. This is the only proposed initiative in the state that can actually save the lives of children. It is an Official Paper Petition that needs in-person signatures.

We will each give an account someday what we did, or did not do, for "the least of these." [Matthew 25] We cannot use as an excuse what someone else told us, whoever they are.

God is giving each of us a chance to repent and choose life for these children. Please don't wait for someone else to do it. God has placed you exactly where you are "for such a time as this". Please use your influence and speak to the people you know to help save these children's lives!

Every signature counts and every petition matters. It takes all of us to save these children's lives before the next election cycle. Two thousand children a month in Colorado depend on you and me to protect them! Don't let the excuses keep you from doing the right thing for the right reasons for the right time to save these children who will die otherwise.
