Have we lost our minds?
If mental ability is the standard for whether it's alright to murder innocent people with or without their consent (either by fooling and confusing them or simply lying), we are all in trouble.
Who has been under anesthesia? Who has been on an antidepressant? What about dementia? Who has ever slept?
Just because we are not awake or alert in the moment does not mean it's alright to permanently end our lives.
Just because we cannot feel in the moment - due to anesthesia or unconsciousness - does not mean it's alright to take away the only life we have.
Only God has in his job description the ability to judge who should live and who should die, when life should be created and destroyed.
Only God sees the future, understands the past, and comprehends the true worth of an individual and what their life will mean.
The mentally incompetent are being targeted. A toddler with disabilities was put down like an animal. A young man with disabilities was taken away from his parents and killed against his will and the will of his parents. Even the mentally challenged are smarter than a dog. We don't go around killing all the dogs because they are not smart enough for us!
The mentally ill are on the chopping block - a terrifying proposition for anyone who has suffered even a temporary concussion, brain injury, or experienced symptoms of any mental illness. They could be treated with permanent death. Just like we treat preborn children who we fear may have a less than perfect life.
Mental competence affects anyone who would like to grow old someday. Just because someone is in a state of sleep does not lessen the humanity of that person.
The developmental ability or awareness of an infant gathering oxygen from an umbilical cord does not make them any less living and their whole lives ahead of them less worth preserving.
This fascination with killing people is really concerning. Maybe because these people have faces to me. Their lives matter. And mere mortals are no more qualified to judge the quality of another's life and the disadvantages they must overcome than they are able to know their own evil hearts.
We do not qualify to take on God's job description. We are not even charged with changing people's hearts and minds - only God can do that. We are only called to speak truth in love, to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, and to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We are called to worship a good God and submit ourselves to Him, trusting His character, and taking His commands seriously. We are to teach all nations, baptizing them and teaching them all that Christ taught us.
As long as we allow the innocent to lose their lives, we have lost our humanity and our collective conscience. Pagan nations have been destroyed for such. And we are on the razor's edge of repentance or danger.
The mental argument for whether it's alright to abort, euthanize, or murder (whatever you want to call it) is not an argument. The humanity of the living points to our own humanity.
The danger of violating the Golden Rule of treating others as we would like to be treated, is that the mistreatment we allow can eventually come back to us.
History repeats itself. And this story cannot have a happy ending. The cannibalism of the medical profession has infected their judgement.
As health has become our society's god and doctors our priests, death has ensued. For the wages of the sin of idolatry is death.
The mental competence most in question here are those who suppose to know something, to know enough to think murder is alright in certain circumstances.
One brain is not evolved more than another. And no one's brain compares to the One Who created it.
Oh, Lord, have mercy. We have lost our collective minds. We know not what we do. Please wake us up to be able to think clearly again. To value the minds of others more. And our own perceived intelligence to view more humbly.
