The Prostitution-Abortion Link

Media outlets report that efforts to legalize prostitution in Colorado have been temporarily "shelved". We'll need to watch this one and continue to pray against making sexual exploitation of women legal. We also need to be ready to argue against it.
The legalization of prostitution and abortion are direct assaults on women and motherhood. No one who believes in women's rights should tolerate them. Their legalization creates a revolving door. Those greedy for profiting off the misfortunes of women turn dark money into blood money and vice versa. Abortion also feeds the drug industry - both legal and illegal drugs.
Democrats pushing for legalized prostitution in Colorado argue a distinction between women choosing to prostitute themselves for compensation and women who are coerced or trafficked against their will into prostitution. The distinction is slim and the loophole is large. When an officer asks a woman if she is being coerced into prostitution, she will also be coerced into the answer she gives. The legalization of prostitution keeps women enslaved and makes it much more difficult to get away from an abuser.
Prostitution is wrong whether the woman chooses it, or not.
The same arguments have kept abortion legal. It is still illegal to coerce or force a woman to abort her child. But we know it happens all the time. More than half of abortions performed on pregnant mothers are coerced or pressured. Men coerce their girlfriends. Parents pressure daughters. Traffickers drive their slaves. Doctors pressure patients. Abortionists do not report thirteen-year-olds brought into death facilities. Most likely the victim of sexual assault, incest, or sex trafficking, a thirteen-year-old can legally choose to have an abortion without parental consent. A forty-year-old man can drive her to the abortionist, no questions asked. The legalization of abortion keeps women enslaved and makes it much more difficult to get away from an abuser.
Abortion is wrong whether the woman chooses it, or not.
Abortion is the cover-up for prostitution, sex trafficking, rape (sexual assault), and incest. Abortion goes hand-in-hand with sex outside marriage as nine out of ten (9/10) abortions are performed on single women. Prostitution exploits women and harms their souls like abortion does, except abortion also kills a child.
Girls do not dream of growing up to be prostitutes. Children do not hope to grow up to abort children. While Colorado public schools are grooming them for both, that is not what women want for themselves. Being conditioned to be abused is not the same as wanting it. Both prostitution and abortion harm women. Both violate a woman's body. Both prey upon women in desperate circumstances. One of them kills a child.
The psychological damage to women in sexual relationships can skew thinking that they have no choice, whether it is no choice in prostituting themselves or no choice in aborting their children. Sin blinds. Sin binds. And abuse ties invisible ropes around its victims that are extremely difficult to untangle or break.
The dynamics of sin and slavery go hand-in-hand because sin itself enslaves. Conviction to live morally is a woman's best hope at recognizing and leaving situations that could tempt or force her to sin and ultimately enslave her.
The solution to the link of prostitution and abortion starts with keeping, and making, them both illegal. Our public school students, and youth in our churches, need to know that it's not just illegal to exchange sex for money (or drugs) but also immoral, and it's not just immoral to kill our children before they can be born but also illegal (when it becomes so).
"Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a disgrace to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)
